RAPTOR Radar Wind Profiler Technology Selected for Initial Phase of NOAA Profiler Network Upgrade Program

Panama City, FL (PRWEB) April 7, 2008 -- The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) has selected DeTect's RAPTOR Radar Wind Profiler (RWP) technology for the initial phase for upgrade of the US Next Generation NOAA Profiler Network, awarding a contract today to prime contractor Honeywell Technical Services, Inc. (HTSI) of Columbia, Maryland. HTSI teamed with DeTect as its technology partner for the contract. The team today was notified that DeTect's RAPTOR technology was selected for the initial design phase of the program.

The RAPTOR Radar Wind Profiler product line from DeTect is the most modern wind profiler system on the market and was developed to provide reliable, unattended, continuous measurement of profiles of vertical and horizontal winds for meteorology, aviation and military applications.

DeTect's Meteorological Systems Group based in Longmont, Colorado is at the forefront in advancing the technology and has developed a new generation of modern systems that incorporate the latest in digital processing technology and functionality delivering significantly improved system performance and reliability. RAPTOR systems are currently operating in the US, India and Kuwait.
